Early Chinese Literacy

(4~5 years,  1 hour)

Early Chinese Literacy is a program tailored for 4 to 5 years old children, to expose them to Chinese language and spark their interest in learning Chinese. Montessori integrated activities of different disciplines carried out in class will assist in the child’s holistic development and their personality. The activities included are as listed below.

Basic Level

(Foundation, 1 hour 30 mins)

Mandarin World preschool program focus on laying down a solid foundation and interest in learning Chinese language, preparing children to enter primary one. The unique feature of our pre-school program is we incorporate Montessori principles in the area of language, practical life and sensory learning. We focus on child holistic development, when there is no motor skill, there is no cognition.

Lower Elementary Programme

(Level 1 & 2, 1 hour 45 mins)

Lower Elementary Programme is a starting point of primary school education. Duration of our program for each level is 7 months. Our syllabus focus on the basic understanding of grammar, comprehension, sentence construction and vocabulary building.

Our Lower Elementary curriculum will support your child in the following areas:

VOCABULARY
  • Emphasize on vocabulary building, word recognition and sentence construction.
GRAMMAR
  • Able to contextualised their learning about the vocabulary and grammar
READING COMPREHENSION
  • Cultivate an interest in learning the Chinese language through storytelling and engaging instructional materials
  • Practice regularly on comprehension, the main component of the syllabus.
WRITING
  • Strengthen their understanding of sentence structure through step-by-step practices
  • Improve on their Pictorial Sentence Writing and/or transit from Pictorial Sentence Writing to 3-Picture Composition Writing
ORAL LANGUAGE, LISTENING COMPREHENSION
  • Build their confidence in expressing and communicating verbally through Show-and-Tell sessions
  • Strengthen their observational skills, organizational skills, and verbal communication skills through Stick-and-Share picture-based oral conversational practice
SPELLING
  • To deepen the students’ impression on characters and vocabulary learnt previously.
ASSESSMENT & REVIEW
  • Gain an understanding of the areas require improvement, through monthly or bi-monthly assessment
  • Revision and strengthening targeted learning topics.

Upper Elementary Programme

(level 1, 2 & 3, duration 2 hours)

Upper Elementary Programme is a challenging leap for primary students. Duration of program is 7 months for each level. Our syllabus focuses on high level vocabs, grammar application, comprehension, writing, and critical thinking.

Our Upper Elementary curriculum will support your child in the following areas:

VOCABULARY
  • Master breath of vocabulary and proficient in applying words in meaningful context
  • Strengthen students understanding of the vocabulary from syllabus and steadily expand their vocabulary to encompass a wider variety of words through variety readings, poems etc.
GRAMMAR
  • Know the parts of speech and its’ application in different phrases/ context..
READING COMPREHENSION
  • Cultivate analytical skills of our students through analysis on different question types & practices,
  • Gradual exposure to various question formats such as direct questions and inferential questions
  • Revise and review various reading comprehension themes in phases. This further enhance our students’ mastery in answering techniques
WRITING
  • Well-versed at writing techniques from 4-Picture to 6-Picture Composition Writing exercises
  • Proficient in writing narrative compositions through guided techniques
  • Creative writing
ORAL LANGUAGE, LISTENING COMPREHENSION
  • Confidently express views on a wide variety of themes
  • Carry out lively discussion in class on hot topics.
ASSESSMENT & REVIEW
